Perhaps it's worthy of the Darwin awards to have the initial instinct to take a picture in a moment of danger. Apparently it's an instinct of mine, I learned, as this female moose barged onto the trail about fifteen feet in front of me in Grand Teton. Thankfully, she seemed to sense that I wasn't a threat, even though I blocked the trail, and she waited for me to take a few pictures, then move as far off the trail as I could (which was about five feet along a log that hung over the hillside) before passing me on the trail, and then stopping to chow down on fireweed as I tried to stay balanced on the log. Moments like this make my day/week.
